Learning what will benefit may require exposing people to risk. However, we systematically assess risks and benefits.
One objective of clinical research is to determine investigational product safety. We as researchers record and analyze adverse events during each trial. These data are critical to the process of obtaining approval to market a new product.
During and following trials, our investigators and their team ensure appropriate medical care for adverse events and clinically significant lab deviations related to the trial and inform patients if medical care is needed for their intercurrent illness.
